At Asas de Socorro, we understand that when we transport people and luggage, we also carry purpose, stories, faith, and the assurance that God continues to make a way where there seems to be none. These flights shorten distances and strengthen the hearts of those who are weary, afraid, or on an urgent mission.

In this edition, we share two powerful testimonies from people who have experienced this firsthand: a pastor who needed to visit fellow believers and train indigenous leaders, and an indigenous mother who, over three years of flying with us, experienced care, safety, and God’s peace—even among the clouds.

| STORIES FROM THOSE WHO FLY WITH US

Pastor João Costa needed to visit fellow believers and respond to an important request from Indigenous leaders: to expand training and pastoral care for those serving on the front lines in remote villages. Our wings had the privilege of carrying him—and the result was more than logistics; it was God’s provision for the Gospel to keep moving forward. In his words:

“I flew with Asas de Socorro, and it was wonderful! Soon we’ll be flying again to continue the mission of training and mentoring indigenous leaders from 43 remote communities.

We fly with Asas because the leaders requested that we expand our work with a new training session in a very remote location. Without the plane, it would be nearly impossible. By car, the trip would be almost 2,000 kilometers, taking four days round-trip.

But by plane, the same journey took just three hours. We saved time, resources, and energy. We also had a pilot who shared our vision for the mission. We are truly grateful—Asas is a mission partner providing critical support for our work.”

When God chooses to sustain a mission, He also sustains the path forward. This testimony makes it clear: help comes so that the work may continue.

Isaura, mother of Gustavo (14) and Ana Patrícia (12), also shared her story. She flew with Asas for three years and said:

“I learned that these flights were never just travel—they were full of care. Many times, I felt God sustaining me from within, even when I felt weak.

I always remember what is written: ‘Give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus’ (1 Thessalonians 5:18). Today I can truly say: I am thankful for everything, because I saw God caring for us.

There were moments of fear, but I will never forget one particular flight. I looked at the clouds and felt face to face with God. It was as if He was reminding me, right there, that I was not alone. His Word came strongly to my heart: ‘Do not fear, for I am with you… I will strengthen you and help you’ (Isaiah 41:10). I felt calm and relieved—peace filled my heart.

When I say ‘face to face,’ I also think of the Scripture that says, ‘Now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face’ (1 Corinthians 13:12). In that moment, I knew God was near.”

Isaura also shared a special memory from a conference where her son was baptized. That day, they returned to their village with Asas de Socorro—filled with joy and gratitude for all the Lord had done in their family.

Thank you, Asas de Socorro, for the flights, the care, and everything you do with love. We felt safe traveling with you—safe with the pilots, the team, and every detail. We are also grateful for the Training Center.

From our Bororo village, we send our gratitude and our hope—that we may continue flying with Asas, being blessed and seeing more lives reached.”

| SHALL WE GO TOGETHER?

These stories remind us that God continues to strengthen His mission, reaching lives in places many cannot go. On each mission trip, our boats navigate rivers and reach remote communities—bringing care, teaching, hope, and presence.

Whether guiding a pastor to leaders who need training or bringing comfort to a mother’s heart above the clouds—God is at work. And He works through people who are willing to go.

If you are already a supporter of Asas de Socorro, please know that your contribution makes all of this possible. Whether you pray, give, or go—you are actively part of the stories being written across Brazil. Don’t give up. Your role matters.

And if you feel called to experience this mission up close, registration for our mission trips is now open. You can join the team, travel with us, and be part of what God is doing in these regions.

Stay tuned for the dates of our upcoming mission trips:

| IN THE WINGS OF PRAYER

Prayer reaches where our feet and wings have not yet arrived. Here are a few prayer requests:

  • Pray that God continues to give wisdom and direction to the leadership of Asas de Socorro.

  • Pray for protection and strength for our pilots, teams, and missionaries on every journey.

  • Pray that more lives will be reached—and that more volunteers and supporters will rise up to sustain this mission.
